Currikane

Surimi is a fish-based food product (the origin of this word is actually Japanese). When cooked, it is dense and rubbery. This “meat” is actually made from any white fish base, usually pollock or hake, although there are some made from land animals as well. One of the most popular fish recipes to make in using surimi is kani sushi or sashimi, where the sticks are sliced in attractive ways and served with wasabi and soy sauce (or with nori and sushi rice, in the case of sushi).

It may also be added to dips and appetizer recipes. For light and very healthy meals, Surimi can be easily flaked and may be combined with salad, ramen, or flaked into sandwiches or in a way shown in the video below. The recipe is called Currikane and definitely a must try for Surimi lovers.

Currikanes:

160 grams fresh tuna
80 grams crab or surimi
3 ounces spicy mayonnaise
30 grams avocado
100 mL orange sauce

1. Cut the fillet in thin slices
2. Cut the avocado into thin pieces; these go on top of the fish.
3. Mix the surimi with the spicy mayonnaise, and place small portions of it on top of the avocado.
4. Roll the surimi and avocado inside the fish, trying to make it look like a taco.
5. Place the roll on top of a base of orange sauce.
